We are delighted to announce that Gallowglass Security Partners LLP has secured BS EN ISO 9001:2008 and BS EN ISO 14001:2004 certification; following rigorous surveillance at our stage 2 assessment, from our UKAS approved assessment body CCAS. The scope of our ISO 9001 certification covers all our service sectors; man guarding, door supervision, key holding and mobile response and property caretaking services. In addition this includes also the crucially important element of security screening pursuant to BS 7858:2012

Our ISO 14001 certification has been calibrated to ensure that our business operations minimise a negative impact on the environment, complies with all applicable environmental regulations, together with implementation of a goal orientated culture of measurable self-improvement. We believe that our quality management systems will bring added assurance and comfort to both the buyers and potential buyers of our services, in the knowledge that our quality assurance systems have been subject to robust independent examination. CCAS observed “This Stage 2 Assessment has indicated that the company’s Integrated Quality and Environmental Management System is being managed well…. and is operating well within the company”. The assessor added “There was a clear commitment to the provision of a quality service by all interviewed within the organisation during the Surveillance Assessment.”

We believe that this indicates that the spirit and letter of ISO has been successfully imbued throughout all facets of our organisation, which will continue to enhance our clients’ experience of us. As a result of the acquisition of these ISO standards, we have decided to let our membership of the Security Industry Authority’s (SIA) “Approved Contractor Scheme” (ACS) lapse. This is a quality assurance model that has been developed and refined for the security industry, and is a voluntary scheme of which we have been members since 2008.

It is right to say that we consistently recorded year on year increases in performance score, and we still retain a high regard for the scheme. However, we have decided to leave the scheme for these reasons. Firstly, on account of the residual long term uncertainties’ of the scheme , as it is unclear whether or not it is a model that will remain in existence. In light of the changes to the scheme, which we believe serves the interests of much larger organisations, we arrived at the view that it is simply too generic and prescriptive. As such we took the view that it was not sufficiently nuanced to take into account the service sectors in which we operate, and as importantly, did not give full expression to the unique Gallowglass approach and spirit. Finally, and despite the best efforts of the SIA to promote the scheme, particularly in the public sector, it simple does not have the same widespread recognition of ISO standards.

Our Managing Partner, Giles Turnbull says of our securing these standards “I am thrilled by the acquisition of these standards. Since 2008 we have worked hard to develop and refine our approach to quality assurance for the benefit of all our clients and stakeholders. Owing the greater appeal and cachet of these standards, I believe that they better reflect our resolute commitment to excellence for our clients. The timing could not be more prescient, given that we entering an exceptional and exciting phase of development”.
